Method

How We Scope a Plastic Recycling Line

Every project above started the same way — with a material sample and a target output, not a catalogue number. These are the three questions we work through before any plastic recycling line is quoted.

  1. 01

    Start with the polymer and the form it arrives in

    PET bottles, HDPE milk bottles, PP film, EPS foam and PC flakes all behave differently once they reach a shredder. Polymer type, bulk density, moisture and contamination decide whether the line needs sorting, a washing line, a squeezer, or can feed a pelletizing line directly. Clean in-house scrap such as the PP film edge-trim in the Italian project goes straight to compacting pelletizing; post-consumer bottles like the German HDPE project need washing first.

  2. 02

    Fix the hourly throughput before sizing machines

    Target kg/h sets extruder size, screw diameter, washing tank volume and dryer capacity across the whole line at once. The projects on this page run between 300 and 1,000 kg/h. Oversizing one stage and undersizing the next is the most common reason a plastic recycling line never reaches its rated output, so we balance every stage to the same throughput rather than quoting machines individually.

  3. 03

    Work backwards from the output you sell

    Clean flakes, recycled pellets and finished product each demand a different end of the line. Selling washed flakes stops at drying; selling pellets adds melt filtration and a pelletizing line; selling pipe or profile continues into extrusion. Deciding the saleable output first is what keeps the specification honest.

Built in our own workshop

Every line on this page was manufactured in the SUHUI workshop in Zhangjiagang — we are a factory-direct plastic pelletizing line manufacturer, not a trading company reselling other people's machines. Shredders, washing line tanks, extruders and pelletizers are made and fitted by the same engineering team that specified them.

Assembled and test-run before shipment

Lines are fully assembled and trial-run in the workshop before they are crated. Where the customer can supply material, we run their own scrap through the line and confirm output quality against the agreed specification, so commissioning on site is a repeat of a test that already passed.

Installed and commissioned on site

Our engineers travel to install, commission and bring the line up to rated output, then train the operators who will run it daily. That is how a plant in Germany, Australia or Vietnam reaches stable production without a resident specialist.

Supported long after handover

Wear parts — screws, screens, blades, cutters and heaters — stay available for the life of the line, with remote technical support for process adjustments when the feedstock changes.

Can you share a reference for a line similar to mine?

Why are customer names and logos not shown on these projects?

Most recyclers and compounders treat their line configuration as commercially sensitive, so we publish projects by country, material, machine type and capacity only. The technical details you need to judge whether a line suits you are all here; the customer identity is shared privately once they have approved it.

What capacity do the lines on this page run at?

The projects shown run between 300 and 1,000 kg/h — 300 kg/h for the PP film and PC flakes pelletizing lines, 500 kg/h for the masterbatch and HDPE bottle lines, and 1,000 kg/h for the EPS pelletizing and mixed-plastic sorting lines. Across our wider range we configure lines from around 100 kg/h upwards.

Can a line like these be adapted to a different polymer or a higher output?

Usually yes, but not by simply relabelling it. Changing polymer can mean different screw geometry, screen configuration, wash-tank residence time or drying capacity; raising output changes machine sizes across every stage. We re-scope the line around the new material and throughput rather than uprating a single machine.
