The PET Solid State Polymerization (SSP) System is a specialized industrial solution designed to enhance the intrinsic viscosity (IV) and mechanical properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. It transforms low-IV PET chips or recycled flakes into high-quality material suitable for demanding applications like beverage bottles, textiles, and engineering plastics.
The system operates in a controlled, oxygen-free environment using heat and inert gas (typically nitrogen). This triggers molecular chain extension, increasing crystallinity and IV while minimizing degradation. It ensures uniform polymerization for consistent product performance.
Ideal for recycling plants and PET producers, the system supports both virgin and post-consumer materials. Its modular design allows integration into existing production lines or standalone operation.
Key Features
High Thermal Efficiency: Advanced heating zones ensure precise temperature control (200–230°C) for optimal polymerization.
Inert Gas Circulation: Nitrogen purging prevents oxidation, maintaining material purity.
Automated Process Control: PLC system with touchscreen interface for real-time monitoring and adjustments.
Scalable Capacity: Available in batch or continuous configurations (50–2,000 kg/h).
Energy Recovery: Heat exchangers reuse thermal energy, reducing operational costs.
Low Dust Generation: Closed-loop design minimizes particle contamination.
Eco-Friendly: Compatible with recycled PET flakes, supporting circular economy goals.
Safety Compliance: Explosion-proof components and gas leakage alarms (CE/ATEX certified).
Process Workflow
Pre-Treatment: PET chips/flakes are pre-dried to reduce moisture (<50 ppm).
Pre-Crystallization: Material is heated to 120–160°C to prevent agglomeration.
SSP Reactor: PET enters a vertical/horizontal reactor, heated under nitrogen flow for 6–12 hours (batch) or 8–24 hours (continuous).
Cooling & Stabilization: Polymerized PET is cooled to ambient temperature to lock in IV gains.
Sieving & Packaging: Uniform pellets are sieved to remove fines and packaged for storage/shipment.
